Spokane, Cresent Bar and Seattle Washington

Dave and I have had the pleasure of spending two weeks in Washington State.  Everything about our time there was amazing.  The weather couldn't have been nicer.  Our campgrounds were great.  So let me tell you about the cities we visited.
Our first stop was Spokane, which is a beautiful city.  It has waterfalls running right through it.  Riverside Park is the site of the 1974 World's Fair.  It even has a cable car you can ride down so you can view the base of the falls.  They also had a beautiful pathway down a trail and stairways.  As usual, I choose the stairs.  I think Dave thinks I am trying to kill him, which of course is not true.  Just trying to get my 10,000 steps in a day.  Every day is a different view, one more beautiful than the other.

Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Originally opened in 1908.
We attended Mass in this stunning century old cathedral.  The workmanship of the building was amazing.  Listening to music from a century old pipe organ was such a beautiful experience.  It was a divine celebration.

Next stop- Crescent Bar,WA

Crescent Bar is a recreation area located along the Columbia River in central Washington.  There are beautiful walking paths along the river, as well beaches and boat ramps.  We enjoyed our time there, had a lot of wonderful walks along the river.  We can see this is a great area for the locals.  Boating and fishing looked like it would be wonderful here. We went on a couple of day trips from here, the most interesting to Leavnworth.   It is a beautiful Bavarian style city in the Cascade mountains.  It would be easy to convince me that we were in the Alps.  The city was charming, and the food and beer were good also.  I never expected to see this in Washington.  The drive was equally beautiful.

Our last day we visited Snoqualmie Falls.  We had a lot of fun on this trip.  The Falls are visible from the parking lot.  These Falls have been used for energy since the 1890's when the first power plant was build there, providing electricity to the local area, including Seattle and Tacoma.
Since we were there, of course we had to hike the trail to the bottom of the falls.  Since it was an unusually warm day, it was a little interesting, but the view from the bottom was pretty incredible.   It was worth the effort, it is a beautiful waterfall.

Seattle Washington Area
We spent one afternoon driving around Seattle.  While there, we visited Pike Place Market, and did a little shopping and had a great seafood lunch.    Dave had the salmon he was waiting for, and he was not disappointed.  It was here that we decided that we are not really city people.  We definitely prefer to walk in the woods or on a beach.  We drove around and found the Space Needle, but didn't go in it.

While in the Seattle area, our first outing was to take a ferry boat over to Whidbey Island.  We had an amazing day on this outing.  The ferry ride across Pugent Sound was absolutely breathtaking.  Whidbey Island and the surrounding area are beautiful.    We must have visited 3 or 4 different State parks, and the views of the Cascade Mts and Mt Olympis were amazing.

Our time spent in Washington state was amazing.  But, while we moved across the Columbia to Portland Oregon, we would only be miles away, and did return on multiple occasions for day trips.
