Glacier National Park - day 2

Today is hiking day as declared by Miss Susan, after researching the trails we decided on Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Trail.

Once we set out we found that these two trails met and combined them as one trip.  Together they made a 8 mile hike with a 1200 foot climb in elevation over that 8 miles.  We were getting very used to the craggy and steep paths so off we went.

Trail of the Cedars was a board walk about a mile long and filled with huge Cedar trees and rivers and streams.

Sue asked me to stand in front of the tree to show in relation how big the cedars were, I am not sure that was complimentary.
(sigh)  !!!!
Sue said the knot in this tree looks like a heart, or maybe a pumpkin.  What do you think?

So many streams flowed to and joined the river

Beautiful  !!!!

End of the trail was Avalanche Lake. What a beautiful view.

I counted 5 long falls on mountain behind Avalanche Lake

A panoramic view of Avalanche Lake

Even at the distance we were you could hear the water pounding the rocks as it fell.

That's a amazing view, isn't it.

The trip down is always as amazing, and fortunately a little easier.

Around every corner an amazing view.

Into the Woods.  This is a private joke, but I bet it puts a smile on Patti's face.

On our third day we went to Lake McDonald inside the Park and took a cruise.

The water in Lake McDonald is 450 feet deep.  It is the most beautiful shade of blue, feed by the glaciers.

Unfortunately this was our last day to visit Glacier National Park.  The park is absolutely beautiful.  Due to road construction we were unable to return on our fourth day to go kayaking, as we planned.  Glacier is a magnificent park, absolutely breathtaking.  Would definitely recommend a visit.
