Bar Harbor August 30 - September 13, 2018

Our time in Bar Harbor  has been amazing.  During this time we have enjoyed nature at it's best.  There is so much to do here, from hiking up a mountain, walking along the shore or going on a boat cruise.  The tide goes out up to 12 feet every 6 hours, so the scenery is always changing.  It is close to the same tide changes as Bay of Fundy.

Acadia has a free bus routes that take you all over the island.  Yesterday we took a ride on one of the buses.  After 10 days of driving me around and not having an opportunity to appreciate the drive, due to the narrow roads and the cliffs below, Dave was finally able to appreciate the view from the road.

We have enjoyed the Shore Walk around Bar Harbor.  We also enjoyed walking on a carriage trail around Eagle Mountain and a rocky trail up to the top of Bubble Rock.

We went to Cadillac Mountain one evening to see the sunset, and returned a week later to view the beautiful night sky from the top of the mountain.  It was an amazing display of stars and planets. It was a magnificent heavenly experience.

We took an amazing 3 hour boat tour around Somes Sound, which displayed Acadia at its best. There we viewed Egg Rock lighthouse.  We saw dozens of seals by Egg Rock, and a bald eagle flying over an island. This tour also allowed us the opportunity to see the "bungalows" of the rich and famous.

Just when we thought we had seen all there was to see, we discovered Schoodic Peninsula.  This is also part of Arcadia National Park.  The landscape is just as beautiful, but it is not as well traveled, as it is on another peninsula.

Did I forget to mention the lobster.  We have enjoyed many lobster dinners and lobster rolls since we arrived on this island. Dave even enjoyed Lobster Ice Cream, from Ben and Bill's Chocolate Emporium in Bar Harbor.

The campground where we stayed was our favorite to date.  It is on the Bay, beautiful, and close to everything.

We will definitely be back.

Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort

1219 State Hwy 3 Bar Harbor Maine 04609

The entrance to the resort is off of State Road 3, which is a heavily traveled two lane highway, plan on being patient to exit. The entrance is well marked there are two exits and one entrance, entrance is south most. Sites are assigned by park, gravel/dirt roads and sites are well shaded. and are on a hillside so plan on leveling your rig. Most sites are pull thru and water, sewer and 30 amp. Sites along waterfront have no sewer available, but there is a honey wagon for those lots. WiFi and cable are free and work well. Park is well maintained with constant upkeep ongoing, baths and facilities well maintained. We loved our stay here and plan on a return trip.
