We were fortunate enough to spend three weeks on the Oregon Coast. Two of our campgrounds had beach access. What a wonderful place to be in the summer. The weather was cool, mostly in the 60's during the day. The 70's would be considered a heatwave. The air was so fresh and the ocean so beautiful. I am sure if we lived here we would have the equipment necessary to go in the water, as it is very cold. We had to settle for just putting our feet in the water, and enjoying the views, watching wildlife. We had a great time whale watching from the shore. We planned on taking a boat out, but one afternoon we watched the whales from the shore, and had great views of the whales feeding near the shore. When the whale watching boats went out, they were about 100 feet from us. They were watching the same whales we were.
If you've considered the Oregon Coast as a destination, we would highly recommend it. In fact, it would probably be a great place to spend a summer. We absolutely had a blast. They have great seafood, and wonderful views from the restaurants.
Newport Oregon is a neat Seaport town to visit. One of our favorite was the sea lion docks. It was here that we watch to sea lions make a ruckus as moved into position, while pushing others off the dock. It was very enjoyable to watch,
It seemed that whales, sea lions, and seals were at many of our stops, this photo is in Seal Rock State Park and of course you can see the seals on their rock.
We saw many whales especially at Depoe Harbor but we were not as quick with the camera as we needed to be to get the pics of them.

Thor's Well
We stayed here for quite some time as the ocean water drained and quickly spouted out of this hole. We'd never seen anything like it before, and the waters movement was mesmerizing.

No matter where we ended up along the Oregon Coast the views were breathtaking. This State has dozens of State Parks along the shoreline than you could visit in a year. In fact, the state owns the entire coast, so it is all accessible.
There is a magazine called "The original Highway 101 Mile by Mile Guide" The name says it all. It was such an asset having that with us as we explored the coast.
