 Redstone Area

We had to make a trip to Redstone CO, Irv had told us of his grandfathers history in the area.  Frank Kistler owned and operated the Hotel Colorado famous for the Hot Springs Pool and Vapor Caves.  We were disappointed that we could not tour Redstone Castle, but our tour of Redstone was interesting and the area is so beautiful.

Side trip to Marble CO, which was of course a marble mining town, way back off the main road but surprisingly active little town.  Chunks of white marble littered the roadside where they fell from trailers years ago.

Chunks of Marble in creek right along roadside.  They where all along the road to Marble and in peoples yards.  Small narrow road was so heavily traveled we couldn't get more pics of them.

A few views from road to Redstone.

Coke ovens in Redstone, I was told the coal was of the best quality to turn into coke.  Coal was burn in the ovens in lack of oxygen which created coke.  This process made a purer fuel for smelting.

The following were some more views along way to and from Redstone.  This was without a doubt a beautiful trip.

Hayes Creek Falls were just outside of Redstone.

Aspen on Memorial Day

Aspen was what I envisioned as a "Ski Town" quaint and inviting the streets were full of skiers and their equipment.

Ski slopes were busy although the temps were in the 60s at the base.

Roaming Aspen we could see the ski runs all around us.
