Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky

We have taken a break from the blog for a while, so we have a lot of catching up to do. For the remainder of our trip up middle America, we visited  the Wisconsin Dells.  Prior to this trip I had no idea what the Dells were.  As it turns out it is a vast area of glacier formed sandstone formations.  The natural area was beautiful, and unexpected for us.  As is normal for an area full of natural beauty, it is also has many tourist traps from minature golf and dozens of roller coasters, and arcades.  If it was not 2020, I'm sure it would have been very crowded, but it wasn't.  For us, it made it more enjoyable, we were able to enjoy the beauty of the Dells.  It is a very unique part of America.

Later on the trip, while in Kentucky, we visited Cascade Caverns in Greenbo KY.  It is a enjoyable cavern, on the small side, but easily manageable.  It was a good stop, and we only saw a couple of bats.

While in Indiana, we saw the Rising Sun, a gambling boat on the Ohio River.   We also stumbled across a historic Seagrams plant.  It case you were wondering they were not open, and no taste test were available.
We also spent time in Batesville Indiana.  It was a charming city, but it is most famous for it's casket factory.  We had a great meal outdoors across the street from the factory.
This is middle America.  You really don't know what you will find around the corner.  It was beautiful, and really a great way to experience America.

We walked around the charming town of Carrollton, Ky.  Dave spent a few years here growing up, and the town stayed pretty much as he remembered.  It is great to visit towns that are part of your childhood.

This is a site we haven't seen before.  Middle America is full of surprises. You never know what you will find around the corner.
