Verde Valley
Montezuma Castle National Monument
The Indian presence is all over this area. Montezuma Castle is a 20 room dwelling build between 1100 and 1300 into the mountain, it is amazing how much of it is still standing, although it has been reinforced to protect it since the early 1900's. The bottom left photo in the collage is a diaroma of the "castle" as it was built. It makes you wonder what it must have been like to live in this community almost 1,000 years ago.
One day we set out on a short ride to Sedona and it turned out to be amazing. The scenery in the area was truly beautiful. It was a wonderful day. We started out by visiting this beautiful chapel built into the mountains, named Holy Cross Chapel. Truly beautiful.
After the chapel, we explored Sedona, enjoying the scenery, and visiting some of the shops.
On our last day sightseeing in the area, we visited Tuzigoot and Montezuma Well National Monuments. These were also monuments to the Indian tribes that lived in this area.
